Comparison
ByteBento BOS vs DILG BIMS
DILG BIMS is the government's official barangay information system, where the DILG expects your official records and reports to live. ByteBento BOS is a resident-facing portal for your barangay's front office — its own website and online services. They solve different problems, and a barangay can use both.

Why barangays now need their own portal
The E-Governance Act of 2025 (RA 12254) directs government units — including barangays — to put their public services online, either by building their own digital portal or adopting the DICT's eLGU system. BOS is a fast way to have your own portal running and supported, while BIMS stays your DILG records and reporting system. The DILG has reported that only a minority of barangays are actively using BIMS so far, so most are still early in going digital.
