ByteBento BOS is a web platform that gives a Philippine barangay a complete digital front office — a public website, online clearances and certificates, a resident registry, and budget transparency. Each barangay runs on its own domain and is managed by its own staff. It is live in production across barangays in Legazpi City, Albay.
What ByteBento BOS includes
Each barangay turns on only the parts it needs. The core modules are:
- Online clearances and certificates
- Residents request barangay and business clearances and 20+ certificate types online. Staff review each request and generate the finished document from the barangay's own template.
- Resident registry (RBI)
- A searchable Record of Barangay Inhabitants with sectoral tags (PWD, senior citizen, solo parent, 4Ps), household links, and Excel export — with a staff-approval step before anything becomes official.
- Budget and transparency
- Public budget pages and a DILG Full Disclosure dashboard publish the financial documents a barangay is required to disclose, where residents can actually find them.
- Blotter and Katarungang Pambarangay
- Log incidents and generate KP forms — complaint, summons, notice of hearing, settlement — with sensitive cases flagged and access-controlled.
- Health screening (PHILPEN)
- DOH non-communicable-disease risk assessments are captured through a public form and completed by barangay health workers.
- SMS alerts and a pickup queue
- Staff get an SMS when a request comes in, and a full-screen board in the hall shows residents which documents are printed and ready to claim.

Data privacy and compliance
A barangay portal handles real residents' personal data, so BOS is built to support the Data Privacy Act (RA 10173) from the form up:
- A Data Privacy Act consent notice appears before any public form collects information.
- Resident submissions sit in a staff-review queue and never change the official record on their own.
- Every change is logged with who made it and the before-and-after values.
- Sensitive fields the barangay doesn't need are never collected, and each barangay's data is isolated from the others'.
The barangay remains the data controller responsible for its own compliance, including designating a Data Protection Officer and any required registration with the National Privacy Commission.
